Bassetts announces acquisition of Clady Plumbing Supplies

The addition of the well-respected Clady Plumbing Supplies marks yet another significant investment by Bassetts.

Recognised as a NI and GB leader in the sector, Bassetts has experienced continued growth which has enabled investment of over £500,000 in its Northern Ireland branches in the past 12-18 months. This includes the opening of a new ‘showroom only’ branch in Boucher Crescent.

Work on the company’s L’Derry, Coleraine, Omagh and Dungannon branches has been completed, while an upgrade to its Portadown showroom is currently ongoing.

The acquisition of Clady Plumbing, which employs 11, is part of the company’s continued expansion strategy driven by continued growth across a range of product areas. Tile sales are also on the up, with Bassetts experiencing significant growth and selling nearly 250,000 tiles since the start of 2015.

The company is also perfectly positioned to benefit from the fact that Northern Ireland home-owners are spending approximately 150% more on bathrooms than a decade ago and that the market continues to grow.

Bassetts’ Managing Director, Alan Wright, commented, “The acquisition of Clady Plumbing is part of our continued strategy to bring our first-class customer service, innovative product line and knowledge to meet the needs of customers in all areas of Northern Ireland.

“This highly respected Mid-Ulster business will benefit from investment in the coming months and, with a great team in place, we are confident it will experience the same growth that continues across our network of branches.”

He added, “Eight to ten years ago, our customers were spending around £1,500 on a bathroom. In 2016, the average spend is approximately £4,000, which is reflected by our growth over the last decade and extensive offering of products.

“With the UK bathroom market predicted to grow 14% by 2019, and solid plans in place for additional growth and development for Bassetts through continued investment in 2016, the future is looking bright.”

A strong focus on superior design, innovation and cutting-edge technology, alongside its commitment to adapting to the ever-changing needs of customers, has been key to Bassetts’ achievements over the past 35 years.

A prime example is the Bassetts Visualiser, Northern Ireland’s first interactive touchscreen software that allows customers to choose from hundreds of wall and floor tiles to easily create the perfect look in their dream bathroom.

Bassetts currently employs over 100 people, with branches in Bangor, Belfast, Coleraine, Downpatrick, Dungannon, Lisburn, Greencastle, L’Derry, Mallusk, Newry, Portadown and Omagh. The acquisition of Clady Plumbing will bring the company’s branch network to 15 in Northern Ireland.
