The company prides itself on internal promotion and Mark’s appointment is another example of this, as he takes over from Andy Erwin, who has left the company to pursue a career outside the plumbing and heating industry.
In fact, Mark has worked his way up the ranks at MD Ireland, joining the company eight years ago as a sales administrator before being promoted to Branch Supervisor last year. Those two roles provided the perfect foundations for Mark’s new position which will see him working directly with customers all over Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
“I’m really looking forward to this new challenge and to meeting our customers and seeing how we can make a difference to their business,” he said. “As Branch Supervisor, I have already worked with many of our customers, dealing with them on the phone or via e-mail, so it has been nice to be able to put a face to the voice.”
Mark’s appointment has ensured a smooth transition for the company, with it being very much a case of business as usual.
“The fact that MD Ireland has a history of promoting staff from within is a big positive,” added Mark. “As we have proved, it means that you can continue delivering the same high levels of customer service without too much disruption but, on a personal level, you know that, if you work hard, you have the chance to move up the ranks.”
Despite the fact that MD Ireland already has a strong customer base in place, the company is always looking to expand its horizons.
“First and foremost we want to continue to deliver the same high level of service to our established customers,” explained Mark. “Having worked there for eight years, I know the strength of the team we have at our head office and that brings us added confidence.
“That will help as we move forward, as we see a lot of potential in the marketplace, particularly in the Republic of Ireland. Many people see us as simply a bathroom distributor but we offer a lot more than that, with a wide range of plumbing supplies ranging from boilers to pipework making up our portfolio. It means that plumbers’ merchants and bathroom showrooms can deal with one direct supplier, which makes life easier.
“But, more importantly, we listen carefully to the needs of our customers and we will continue to grow our product range to meet these demands.”
