Bassetts has signalled further investment by adding a third Belfast branch following the acquisition of V.P Jebb.
Located in Peters Hill, north of Belfast city centre, the family-run business, which was founded in 1958, will retain its name and iconic shop front but have the added benefit of being part of the Bassetts network.
The acquisition gives Bassetts a total of 17 branches across Northern Ireland and is the company’s third branch in Belfast. The leading plumbing and heating merchant already has a branch at Montgomery Road in the east of the city and at Springfield Road in West Belfast. These branches are further complemented by branches at Greencastle and Mallusk.
The move is another demonstration of ongoing investment by Bassetts in the branch network. In 2017, the company splashed out £2million on its branch network, including a new showroom in Bangor and a new branch in Lisburn while last year the acquisition included the acquisition of Cluady Plumbing Supplies and the opening of a new branch in Enniskillen – the latter giving Bassetts a branch in every county. As part of the V.P Jebb acquisition all staff have been retained, including Store Manager Alex Jebb who is the third generation of the Jebb family to manage the store. Additional roles have also been created, taking the total staff number to seven.
Bassetts will also undertake a significant refurbishment as part of a £500,000 investment in the branch, which will see the addition of an extended trade counter, stores area and new bathroom showroom.
