Marathon effort from PTS for Cancer Fund for Children

PTS entered two relay teams in the Belfast Marathon on Sunday May 5 and raised £3191.43 for their nominated charity, Cancer Fund for Children.

The two teams (10 runners in total) completed the marathon in a time of four hours 27 minutes and PTS has thanked everyone who supported their efforts.

PTS have a number of other upcoming charity events planned including a footgolf competition in June and a community football tournament in August as well as a Charity River Walk from Island Civic Centre Lisburn to Cutters Wharf Belfast on Friday 21 June. Their popular annual golf day will also take place in August along with a mud run later in the year. Meanwhile, PTS has presented a cheque for £5,573.20 to the Cancer Fund for Children.

The money was raised through staff being sponsored to take part in various events and also through the new confectionary fridges and snack areas in all seven branches. The new snack zones allow customers to grab a snack in return for a donation to the charity.

Barry Lowe, Regional Sales Manager, PTS, said, “We want to thank our customers and suppliers for their generosity, which allows us to support the fantastic work of this charity.” Cancer Fund for Children ensures that no family has to face cancer alone. The charity is there for children and young people diagnosed with cancer, or living with a parent diagnosed with cancer and offers support at home, in the community, on the hospital ward and at its residential centre.
