Plumbmaster charity review

Plumbmaster are Haldane Fisher’s specialist Plumbing & Heating division.

Plumbmaster’s chosen charity for 2019, The Welcome Organisation, provide a range of potentially life-saving services to around 1,400 people affected by homelessness across Belfast every year.

Talking about the importance of the charity, Plumbmaster said, “The homeless situation is getting a lot worse, it is frightening walking through Belfast and seeing so many young people on the streets. If we can do anything to help then we want to do it. One of our staff tragically lost her sister to homelessness just a couple of years ago.”

Throughout this year, Plumbmaster have hosted multiple fundraising events and activities to gather donations for this worthwhile cause.

QUESTION TIME
The first fundraising event of the year was in March 2019, a ‘Question Time’ style discussion with panel of suppliers, Warmflow, EPH and Inta, who all participated in an informative and enjoyable night. The event offered a number of excellent prizes; one of which was a ‘Night for Two’ at the George Best Hotel in Belfast.

GOLF OPEN DAY
Their next event saw Plumbmaster invite 90 of their suppliers and customers for the successful day in May 2019, which saw guests tee off on a Shandon Park course. The overall winner of the day, and the recipient of a Taylor Made Golf Bag, sponsored by Copper, was Philly Hughes.

TINY’S TREK ACROSS NI
The company organised a Fun Day at Haldane Fisher, Newry, in June 2019 to celebrate John ‘Tiny’ Weatherill, Bangor branch manager, as he arrived in Newry after his 145mile trek across all the Northern Irish Plumbmaster branches. The trek lasted just over a week, with ‘Tiny’ carrying a gas boiler shell and sleeping rough for the duration of the trek – either inside a branch or in the back of a lorry to mirror the hardships of the homeless in Belfast.

SKY-DIVE
Sales Manager at the Duncrue branch, Paul McDowell, completed his charity sky-dive on Sunday 17 November. This terrifying experience saw Paul exit the aircraft at 10,000ft, attached to the instructor, freefalling to 6,000ft where a canopy was opened and they steered back to the ground.

NINTENDO SWITCH GIVEAWAY
In their most recent fundraising endeavour, Plumbmaster are currently running a £1 Prize Draw raffle to win a Nintendo Switch. For your chance to win, call into your local Plumbmaster branch and fill in the raffle form. All proceeds will go toward The Welcome Organisation. The competition closes at 5pm on Wednesday 13 December 2019.

Plumbmaster’s fantastic charitable achievements showcase the generosity of their suppliers and customers towards The Welcome Organisation. With winter upon us, your donations of clothes, food or money are more crucial than ever. Please visit the charity’s website or facebook to see how you can get involved too.
